I came to art photography from a career in documentary work. My camera helps me penetrate realms that are difficult to access with words. It also inspires me to seek beauty and light, to focus and be mindful – to appreciate each instant and notice minute details on the margins of existence. What I find mesmerizing about the process is that often – to paraphrase Rebecca Norris Webb – you do not take a photograph, it takes you! There is something miraculous about being able to freeze a fleeting moment and succumb to the mystery of that act, to lose yourself in it.
